Jodi Picoult was born on May 19, 1966 in Nesconset on Long Island. She studied writing at Princeton University, where she graduated in 1987. She went on to earn her master degree in education from Harvard University.
Jodi Picoult started her writing career age 5, when she wrote a story called "The Lobster Which Misunderstood". The first novel she wrote was "Songs of the Humpback Whale", published in 1992. She has since written one novel a year, her latest novel being "Lone Wolf" published in 2012
Jodi Picoult is married to Timothy Warren Van Leer, they have three children and live in Hanover, New Hampshire
